Will Smith started off his career singing with Townes. Their style of presentation virtually won wide appreciation which also brought them their first ever Grammy in the Rap category in 1988. Will Smith and Townes released their debut record "Rock The House" scoring a super hit with the single 'Girls Ain't Nothing but Trouble'. His first two solo albums achieved platinum status. Despite of the initial success Smith's career did not take off in a big way.
Just when Smith was going financially bankrupt, NBC television signed him for their "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" a sitcom that was built around him. The sitcom was a phenomenal success with Smith gaining wide recognition and becoming a household name. The super success sitcom has also brought him several movie offers where he showcased his impressive acting abilities. His blockbuster movies include "Bad Boys"; "Men in Black"; "Men in Black II"; "Bad Boys II"; "Ali"; "Enemy of the State"; "Independence Day"; and more recently "The Pursuit of Happyness" in which he co-starred with his son Jaden Smith. His amazing performances in "Ali" and "The Pursuit of Happyness" earned him nominations for Oscar Awards in the category of Best Actor. |
